State Friend of Extension award to Home State Bank

Home State Bank of Jefferson was awarded the “Friend of Extension” award at the state level at an Awards Night held March 6 during the Iowa State Extension and Outreach annual conference. The bank previously received this award for the Southwest region of Iowa but was further selected for this award.

Greene County ISU Extension and Home State Bank have been working together for more than 60 years. With the same goal in mind the two partners work side-by-side in supporting the Greene County community.

Home State Bank’s impact has been through supporting agricultural programming, Greene County Fair, 4-H fundraisers, and marketing the local Extension programming.

Every year Home State Bank has sponsored Extension’s ag coffees and private pesticide applicator trainings by providing notepads, pens, water and financially contributing to the program. During the Greene County Fair, the bank provides water to the public, livestreaming, 4-H shirts for all youth, helps judge various events, sponsors trophies, and supports the 4-H food stand. Not only does Home State Bank donate an estimated $10,000 a year through Greene County Extension partnerships, but several bank employees are 4-H leaders, superintendents, have youth in the program, or participate in Extension programming.

“Home State Bank makes a difference through Extension by providing support through sponsorships, marketing, advocating 4-H and agriculture to our community, and helping us on our journey to reach all Iowans,” an Extension spokesperson said. “Greene County Extension is proud of this partnership and looks forward to continuing this for years to come. Thank you for all you do Home State Bank.”
